The Stadtgarten is Cologne's first modern park, created in 1828 outside the former city walls. Today it is home to the Stadtgarten concert hall, with more than 400 jazz and improvised-music events a year, a large beer garden and a restaurant. In winter it hosts a rotating Christmas market.
