Cologne City Hall is the oldest in Germany, documented since 1135. The Gothic council tower from 1414 carries 124 figures of notable Cologne personalities. The 1573 Renaissance loggia opens onto the Alter Markt. Inside is the Hansa Hall with its Nine Good Heroes; in the cellar lies the 12th-century mikveh.
