The Heumarkt is Cologne's second-largest square after the Neumarkt and has been a central marketplace since the Middle Ages. At its center stands the equestrian statue of the Prussian king Friedrich Wilhelm III with 16 accompanying figures. In winter it hosts the 'Heinzels Wintermärchen' Christmas market.
