Hahnentor
A medieval city gate on Rudolfplatz. The coronation gate through which kings passed on their way from Aachen to the cathedral.
The Hahnentor secured the western entrance to the medieval city. Kings crowned in Aachen entered here on their way to the Shrine of the Three Kings in the cathedral. One of four surviving gates of the original twelve in the medieval city wall, it is now the seat of the EhrenGarde of the City of Cologne.
