Roman-Germanic Museum

Cologne's archaeology museum, home to the famous Dionysus Mosaic from the year 220 AD.

The Roman-Germanic Museum traces Cologne from the Ubii settlement through the Roman 'Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium' into the Merovingian era. The highlight is the 750-square-foot Dionysus Mosaic from the 3rd century, which survived World War II in the air-raid shelter beneath the cathedral. Under renovation until 2030, with highlights shown at the Belgisches Haus on Neumarkt.
